WENDY WOLF CROWNED MS. WHEELCHAIR ARIZONA
On May 8, 2006, Wendy Wolf was awarded the
title Ms. Wheelchair Arizona at the Pageant held in Phoenix, Arizona. She subsequently competed in the Ms. Wheelchair America Pageant held in Little Rock, Arkansas, where, on August 6th, she won the prestigious Niki Ard Award for lifetime achievement.
As Ms. Wheelchair Arizona, she maintained a busy twelve month schedule spreading the word of her platform of "Breaking down walls of social and attitudinal barriers for people with disabilities." An excerpt from her speech appears below.
"I believe this presents a myriad of obstacles faced by people who happen to be differently
abled. We are people who choose particular lifestyles, careers, educational opportunities,
personal and family choices. Regardless of ones race, ethnic background, age or particular challenge,
all people should have options and goals which are not encouraged or discouraged by societies
attitudes and expectations of what one is capable or not capable of doing. The lives of people
with disabilities are not very different from the lives of those without. It is important for
all to realize that external obvious weakness has nothing to do with extraordinary inner
strengths."
During the course of her reign, Ms. Wheelchair Arizona 2006 made over 65 appearances advancing her platform of disability awareness. If you would like further information about the Ms. Wheelchair Arizona Pageant or the Ms. Wheelchair America Pageant , visit website links below.
